iGotcha Media was commissioned by McGill University to implement an interactive digital kiosk to help students and visitors navigate the campus and access important information.
The wayfinding kiosk was to be implemented outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions and direct sunlight. The digital displays needed to be bilingual and informative.
iGotcha Media implemented a custom-made wayfinding kiosk near the Roddick Gates, the downtown campus’ main entry point, to ensure frictionless navigation.
Our experienced project managers recommended an IP65-rated kiosk which is resistant to severe weather conditions and vandalism. The high-brightness display was resistant to direct sunlight and a thermal ventilation system enabled the hardware to function without interruption during extremely high or cool temperatures.
The kiosk features a multi-touch display which visitors can use to navigate an interactive wayfinding map of the downtown campus. The interactive kiosks also provide students with special night routes and accessibility features, promoting inclusion and safety on campus. Additional information includes the current weather forecast and even shuttle bus times.
As users navigate the map, they can tap on the establishments on campus to gain Information about each buildings. Details include historical information about the origins of the structure, its address and a Google Maps street view image. Our software was built with the highest security protocols in order to prevent users from leaving google street view and accessing other sites.
The interactive kiosk also display advertisements and content promoted by the University. Our reliable content management system powers McGill’s digital signage and provides staff with a simple way to edit and monitor what they are displaying on their screens.
University students enjoy access to a virtual wayfinding map to help them locate their courses and find their way throughout McGill’s downtown campus. iGotcha Media’s solutions enabled for a seamless integration and experience for users.
